It’s the best feeling to step out of our blistering hot weather and into an ice-cold, darkened movie theater. Local cinemas are offering several incentives during these steamy months to remove us from our Netflix addictions and experience the summer’s blockbusters in their crisp, dimmed playhouses.
The highest grossing megahit so far is “Top Gun: Maverick,” starring Tom Cruise as a Navy test pilot confronting his deepest fears. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” a Marvel Comics-style superhero flick, is another smash summer hit, along with “Jurassic World Dominion” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”
So many of us have been hesitant to go to theaters during the COVID-19 pandemic. But some consider large theaters with high ceilings and good ventilation to be a safe bet, especially when the theater is uncrowded and groups can spread out. Many theaters offer the discounts below during hours when crowds are sparse. Check their websites if you have any questions about their COVID-19 policies or these summer specials.
Tickets are $5 all day on Tuesdays and 30% off every day before 4 p.m. Check in advance to make sure your local theater is participating in these offers.
If you see “Where the Crawdads Sing” before July 24, you can enter a sweepstakes for a trip to North Carolina. There’s also a chance to win a trip to San Francisco when you see “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”
Tickets are $2 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for kids’ movies this summer, including “Minions.” If you join the Regal Crown Club, you can get 25% off candy on Mondays and 50% off popcorn on Tuesdays.
Several discount options are available, including reduced prices on Tuesdays; and senior, military and student discounts.
