Giants’ Andrew Thomas named to ESPN’s Top 25 Under 25 list

When Andrew Thomas was selected fourth overall in the 2020 NFL draft, the New York Giants had high hopes for the Georgia product. After Thomas’ rookie season left plenty to be desired, fans immediately drew comparisons to Ereck Flowers.

In Thomas’ second season, he improved dramatically and now, in the middle of his third season, he may just be the best player on the Giants.

ESPN released their list of the top 25 players under the age of 25 and Thomas landed at No. 12 on the list.

Thomas struggled out of the gate, giving up 16 sacks as a rookie in 2020, but he has now emerged as one of the best left tackles in football in his third season. He plays with the type of poise, patience, balance and power rarely found in a young tackle, showing the strength to shut down power rushers and the agility to cut off the corner and play in space. And he’s only getting better every week. His 91.9% pass block win rate is 16th in the league among tackles this season.

Thomas has been nearly flawless for Big Blue this season until his ugly performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

Others who made the list were fellow OL Tristan Wirfs, QB Justin Herbert, WR Ceedee Lamb and WR Justin Jefferson, among others from the 2020 NFL draft. Quarterback Justin Fields also made the list. He was selected by the Bears with the pick they acquired from the Giants in the 2021 draft.

The Giants seem to have found a great piece for years to come with Thomas and Big Blue would be lucky if 2022 first-round selection Evan Neal is anywhere close to as good as Thomas.
