Vanna White’s first time hosting ‘Wheel of Fortune’ draws mixed reviews on Twitter

After 37 years of turning letters on Wheel of Fortune, Vanna White finally got to take the hosting job for a spin. She stepped in for longtime host Pat Sajak at the last minute because he had to have emergency surgery on a blocked intestine. Considering she was thrust into the role on short notice, White performed admirably. Last week she discussed being “very nervous” about filling in for Sajak. "Normally I just stand there and I turn my letters, and I’m just happy as can be not having to worry about anything else," she explained to the New York Times. "But here I am controlling the game, so logistically it was much harder.” While she did fairly well, White had an embarrassing moment during the “Final Spin.” She only managed to spin the wheel about half a rotation, commenting “That wheel is heavy!” She then became confused as to which of the three contestant arrows selected the prize amount. She exclaimed, “Oh, no, I'm looking at the wrong arrow!” Following it up with a joke, “How do you do this show?” The response on Twitter was mixed. While many fans were happy to see White host the show, most admitted she was a little awkward. While White’s first show was a little bumpy, she will hopefully become more comfortable as she gets some practice. White will host the show for the next 2 weeks.
