Fans bid an emotional farewell to ‘Modern Family’

After 11 seasons, Modern Family came to an end Wednesday night. The show garnered 82 Emmy nominations and 22 wins during its 11 year run, but more importantly it won over fans’ hearts. Even Barack Obama once claimed it was his favorite show. It was an emotional night for fans, made even more emotional by the plotline. Throughout the one hour finale, several of the family members reveal they are moving out and on.

- They're really leaving. What do we do?

- What people have always done, leave the porch light on. They come back.

KYLIE MAR (VOICEOVER): The final episode of "Modern Family" aired Wednesday night, after 11 years which were so successful, they became synonymous with the Emmy awards.

- Welcome back to the "Modern Family" awards.

KYLIE MAR (VOICEOVER): But the family who won over America's hearts is going their separate ways for now, with the kids all moving out, Cam and Mitchell moving to Missouri, and Claire and Phil planning a long RV trip. It's the end of an era.

- Who knows when we'll all be together again?

- OK, um, I'm gonna set an example and be the first one to let go. It was awful.

ALL: Oh.

KYLIE MAR (VOICEOVER): Fans were emotional, as they bid farewell to the long-running series, with one fan tweeting, "I am sobbing. Thank you "Modern Family" for so many years of laughter. While another wrote, "Why is it ending? It's one of the best shows of all time and my heart is breaking."

[BABIES CRYING]

- Damn, I miss this.

- Me, too.

KYLIE MAR (VOICEOVER): And just like that, they close the show with the perfect ending.
