Aviation experts to begin probe of Singapore Airlines turbulence incident that left British man dead
Aviation investigators arrived in Bangkok Wednesday to learn how and why severe turbulence sent a Singapore Airlines plane into a sudden dive that tossed passengers and crew around the cabin, leaving a British man dead and dozens others injured. Twenty people remained in intensive care in hospital after Flight SQ321, which was flying from London’s Heathrow airport to Singapore, hit the turbulence Tuesday over the Andaman Sea. The Boeing 777, which carried 211 passengers and 18 crew members, descended 6,000 feet (around 1,800 meters) in about three minutes, the carrier said.

A British lawmaker was returning to work Wednesday, six months after sepsis put him in a coma and forced the amputation of his hands and feet. Conservative legislator Craig Mackinlay was due to take his seat in the House of Commons for the weekly Prime Minister’s Questions session, with his wife and 4-year-old daughter watching from the public gallery. Mackinlay, 57, recounted in a series of interviews how he was taken to hospital on Sept. 28 after feeling ill.

UK inflation slows to near three-year low

Target sales decline to start the year, but it sees improvement

The Minneapolis retailer also delivered profit results that were below analyst expectations and issued a muted profit outlook, but it said it expects that it will get back to quarterly sales growth this quarter. Target announced a new paid membership program in April called Target Circle 360 which comes with unlimited free same-day delivery for orders over $35 and free two-day shipping for all orders.

ECB can start cuts before Fed, says Finnish bank governor
The European Central Bank did not have to take its cues from the US Federal Reserve and could start to lower rates as soon as June, Bank of Finland governor Olli Rehn told AFP. "While we don't make policy in a vacuum, the ECB is not the 13th Federal district of the US Federal Reserve," which is split into 12 zones, said Rehn."What the Fed does will not determine the case for a rate cut by the ECB," said Rehn.

Congo lawyers say received new evidence on Apple's minerals supply chain
PARIS (Reuters) -International lawyers representing the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo said on Wednesday new evidence gathered from whistleblowers indicates that Apple is sourcing minerals from conflict areas in the east of the country. In a statement, the lawyers urged Apple to answer questions about its supply chain in the country, and said they were evaluating legal options. Apple did not immediately respond to Reuters request for comment.
