Arkansas tax-free weekend 2022: What you need to know

In Arkansas and Oklahoma, tax-free weekends are coming in August.

In Arkansas, the tax-free weekend will begin on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 12:01 a.m. and end on Aug. 7 at 11:59 p.m. In Oklahoma, the sales tax will be exempted from Aug. 5-7.

The tax-free weekend is mainly for school supplies but there are items that aren’t school supplies and will be exempt.

According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission's website, clothing or footwear less than $100 is exempt, items over that amount will be taxed. Accessories like jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, and watches are considered taxable. Clothes and footwear that are rented are taxable. The Arkansas Legislature added electronics to the list of tax-exempt items beginning last year.

The sales tax rate in Arkansas is 6.5% and Oklahoma is 4.125%.
