YouTube’s ‘Impulse’ Pilot Casts Maddie Hasson, Sarah Desjardins & More

Maddie Hasson (Twisted, The Finder), Sarah Desjardins (Van Helsing, Wayward Pines), Missi Pyle (Gone Girl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Enuka Okuma (How to Get Away with Murder, Rookie Blue) and Craig Arnold (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Heartland) are set as series regulars in YouTube’s Impulse, a sci-fi thriller pilot from Universal Cable Productions. In addition, David James Elliott (Jag) is set for a guest-starring role. Production gets underway tomorrow in Toronto.

Based on the third novel in the Jumper series by Steven Gould, Impulse features a rebellious 16-year-old girl Henry (Hasson) who has always felt different from her peers and has longed to escape from her seemingly quaint small town. Henry soon discovers she has the extraordinary ability to teleport. This newfound power confirms her conviction that she really was different from everybody else, but it now makes her the focus of those who want to control her. Rounding out the cast are Desjardins as Henry’s step-sister Jenna, Pyle as Henry’s mother Cleo, Okuma as Deputy Anna, and Arnold as Lucas. Elliott will guest star as Lucas’ dad Bill.

Impulse is directed and executive produced by Hypnotic’s Doug Liman (Bourne Identity, Live. Die. Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow), Hypnotic’s David Bartis and Gene Klein (Suits), will executive produce along with Liman. The pilot is written by Jeffrey Lieber (Lost, NCIS: New Orleans) with revisions by Gary Spinelli (American Made).

Impulse is the latest addition to UCP’s pilot slate, which includes The Sinner, Damnation, The Tap, and Unsolved for USA Network and The Haunted, The Machine, and Happy! for SyFy.

Hasson is repped by United Talent Agency, Coast to Coast and The Beddingfield Company. Desjardins is repped by Play Management Inc. and Primary Wave Entertainment. Pyle is repped by United Talent Agency and McKeon Myones Entertainment. Okuma is repped by The Kohner Agency and Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management. Arnold is repped by Amanda Rosenthal Talent Agency Inc. and Capstone Management. Elliot is repped by The Gersh Agency and LINK Entertainment.
