Yahoo's New Slate: Naomi Campbell, Simon Cowell, Michelle Rodriguez, and More

At today’s NewFronts presentation, Yahoo (which, as you may have guessed, is the parent company of Yahoo TV) announced more than a dozen new series. The shows include a new music competition from former American Idol judge Simon Cowell, and a new scripted comedy — The Pursuit, from SNL director Beth McCarthy-Miller — to go along with currently streaming entries Other Space and Sin City Saints and the revival of Community.

The highlights:

* Ultimate DJ, executive produced by Cowell for Yahoo Live, will follow electronic music DJs from around the world as they compete for a record contract with Ultra Records & Sony Music.

* Riding Shotgun With Michelle Rodriguez, with the Fast & Furious actress getting behind the wheel of some fast rides for Yahoo Autos and evaluating how they handle.

* I Am Naomi, a Yahoo Style original series hosted by supermodel Naomi Campbell, who will chat with “the world’s most powerful and influential people.”

* The Pursuit, described as “an edgier, 21st-century take on Friends in the era of social media,” with a group of late-20s friends making their way in modern-day Manhattan. McCarthy-Miller executive produces, along with Scott Stuber (Ted) and Dylan Clark (The Heat).
