Why ‘Puppy Bowl 12’ Was Better Than the Super Bowl

Many watched Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, but there are many reasons they should have watched Puppy Bowl 12 — which earned its share of praise and, ah, ap-paws.

Highlights from the adorable puppies playing football included a tortoise streaker sneaking onto the field. Unfortunately, the streak lasted so long that a ref had to intervene, urging, “Could you hurry things along? Maybe streaking’s not for you. Maybe you should play something more your speed, like chess.”

The halftime show consisted of a group of kittens cat-astrophically terrifying a miniature San Francisco.

The Puppy Bowl even included its own deflate-gate when the referee noticed an under-inflated football and scolded the puppies for tampering with the equipment. NFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith announced the Puppy Bowl Hall of Fame and inducted several four-legged members of past games. Cheerleaders cheered, but their praise came out as more of a squawk, as the cheerleaders were silkie chickens.
