Cissy Houston is ready to tell all. The 78-year-old gospel singer has announced plans to release a memoir detailing her late daughter Whitney Houston's life and career prior to her untimely February 2012 death at age 48.

"In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney," Cissy Houston said in a statement. "We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter's true story."

Set to be published by HarperCollins, the tome -- billed as "a definitive account of Whitney Houston's astonishing life" -- is expected to hit bookstores next February to coincide with the first anniversary of her death.

Largely keeping quiet as she mourns her daughter's death, Cissy spoke to New Jersey's My9 News in March about her continued grieving process. "I'm very proud of my daughter," the superstar's mother -- who famously appeared in her daughter's "Greatest Love of All" video -- said at the time. "She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here…she was a very wonderful person."

As Cissy prepares to release her memoir, she will also take part in a new Lifetime reality series chronicling Whitney's extended family. Called The Houston Family Chronicles, the 10-episode series will follow Whitney's 20-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, brother Gary, sister-in-law Pat and Cissy.
