‘Westworld’ Recap: Dolores Takes Control of Her Story

On Sunday’s Westworld, the hosts’ slow fits of awareness hit a new high when Dolores broke free of her storyline.

We learned her sad fate as Ford analyzed Teddy in the lab. He explained, “Your job is not to protect Dolores, it’s to keep her here, to ensure that the guests find her if they want to best the stalwart gunslinger and have their way with this girl.” Teddy was sent to fight a new park villain, Wyatt.

Holding a gun that she’d unearthed, she had flashbacks to previous storylines. Lowe, knowing that she’d been having flights of self-realization, felt bad for Dolores and decided to not fix her and see where her “path leads.”

Back in the park, she was yet again confronted by an attacker, but she was able to grab the pistol that she found and shoot her way out. She jumped on a horse and rode off but later collapsed in the arms of the new white-hat-wearing visitor, William. Does this mean that William will now help Dolores escape the fate of her storyline?

Westworld airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
