Watch the Stars of ‘Outlander’ Bid Farewell to Scotland

Outlander fans are going to have to wait a little longer to see how red-hot Highlander lovers Claire and Jamie Fraser (Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan) find their way back into each other’s arms after the events of the Season 2 finale. Starz has announced that the third season of the time-traveling romance, based on the bestselling series by Diana Gabaldon, will bypass its usual spring premiere and launch the next 13 episodes in September 2017.

That change of date is motivated, in part, by a major change of scenery. The Outlander team is traveling to South Africa, where the series will film key sequences for Season 3, which is based on the Gabaldon’s 1994 novel, Voyager. The events of that book shift the location from Scotland to the West Indies, with a grand adventure that involves some high-seas piracy. Fortuitously, Starz has some familiarity with the demands of re-creating a pirate’s life; the network’s seafaring adventure, Black Sails, is in the process of airing its fourth and final season, so Outlander will inherit that show’s Cape Town-based pirate sets.

For their part, Balfe and Heughan are excited to get their sea legs in South Africa. In the above video, the always adorable stars bid farewell to Scotland (for now) and look forward to the many things they’ll enjoy in “the town of the cape,” including sunshine, fewer layers of clothes, and Castle Lager. Don’t forget the yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum.

Outlander premieres in September 2017 on Starz.
