"Restore the Shore," the one-hour fundraising special to help rebuild Seaside Heights, New Jersey post-Sandy, will be webcast live by Yahoo! TV tonight (Thursday, November 15).
The star-studded event, also being dubbed as MTV's first ever crowdfunding campaign, will feature live performances from Gym Class Heroes (with special guest Oh Land) performing the comeback anthem "The Fighter," as well as "American Idol" Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips performing his stirring hit "Home." One Direction, Alicia Keys, Mac Miller, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Pharrell, P!nk, Demi Lovato, Kim Kardashian, Ne-Yo, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, No Doubt, fun., Carly Rae Jepsen, Swizz Beats, the Jonas Brothers, Ludacris, All Time Low, Sean Kingston, Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Carson Daly of "The Voice," Ashley Greene, Dakota Fanning, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2," Jay Leno, the cast of "The View," Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Wendy Williams, and many more will all be contributing messages of support on-air.
Unlike other telethons, "Restore the Shore" will have the stars of "Jersey Shore," "Awkward," "Teen Wolf," "The Challenge, and "The Real World" personally calling individuals live from MTV's Times Square studio to thank them for giving. And in true crowdfunding fashion, people donating will receive the following MTV tailored perks:
- $25 will get you an exclusive MTV "Restore the Shore" song bundle, which includes 30 songs from the past six seasons of "Jersey Shore"
- $250 will get you a shout out during a "Jersey Shore" marathon
- $500 will get your initials officially carved on the rebuilt Seaside Heights boardwalk, plus all the above
This televised fundraising event will be broadcast live at 11 PM ET (tape-delayed PT) on MTV, MTV.com, MTV mobile, MTV radio, and, of course, on Yahoo! TV.
