How to Watch Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Want to avoid your family? Still too early for pigskin (or turkey meat, for that matter)? The 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade can provide a serviceable distraction during the morning hours tomorrow.

But how does one pull off the Herculean task of actually watching this thing? Readers, you came to the right place. For starters, those looking for Snoopy and Santa can watch the traditional way on NBC. Not a fan of the peacock? CBS airs parts of the procession.

Of course, NBC has the bigger party. This year, Broadway talent from “Cats,” “Holiday Inn, The New Irving Berlin Musical,” “Paramour” and “Waitress” will perform, as well as the network’s “Hairspray Live!” cast. And don’t fret, the Rockettes will be there.

Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker of NBC’s “Today” show will anchor that broadcast. Joining the festivities this year are Kelsea Ballerini, Tony Bennett, Aloe Blacc, Chloe x Halle, Easton Corbin, Daya, De La Soul, Diamante Eléctrico, Brett Eldredge, Fitz & the Tantrums, Christopher Jackson, Johnnyswim, Sandra Lee, Maddie & Tae, Sarah McLachlan, NHL legends Adam Graves and Eric Lindros, Ben Rector, Regina Spektor, the cast and Muppets of “Sesame Street,” Sprout’s Chica, Timeflies, U.S. Olympic Gold Medalists Michelle Carter, Laurie Hernandez and Claressa Shields, U.S. Paralympic Gold Medalists Mikey Brannigan and Gianfranco Iannotta, Grace VanderWaal and Jacob Whitesides, among others.

In addition, Telemundo will simulcast the parade in Spanish with the event hosted by stars Jessica Carrillo and Carlos Ponce. The whole thing airs from 9 a.m.-noon in all time zones.

CBS has Sting and Miranda Lambert performing, with anchors Kevin Frazier (“Entertainment Tonight”) Keltie Knight (“The Insider”) calling the play-by-play. Broadway hit musicals “The Color Purple,” “On Your Feet!” and “School of Rock” will also sing and dance over on The Eye. CBS’ coverage is far more sporadic time-wise. As they say, check your local listings.

OK, millennials, we’re getting to you. TheWrap knows that none of you own a TV. NBCUniversal and Verizon will provide a 360-degree live stream on the latter’s YouTube page. Marlon Wayans and Olivia Culpo will host that one.

You can also watch here via EarthCam, or on your television using the EarthCam app for Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV.

Finally, for the daring (and foolish) among us, those hoping to catch an up-close glimpse of Woody the Woodpecker can line up with 3.5 million of their closest friends. The march starts at 77th St. and 8th Ave. in Manhattan, and ends at 34th and 7th, also known as Herald Square.
