Emmys: 'The Walking Dead's' Melissa McBride Deserves a Nomination for Playing Carol… and 'Scare'-ol

Fans of The Walking Dead — and there are about 15 million of you out there — have always been baffled by the way AMC’s zombie hit gets ignored by the Emmys each year (just 10 nominations in four seasons, all in technical categories). What are you afraid of, Emmys, huh?

Well, we’re hoping this is the year Melissa McBride (Carol) finally breaks through and scores TWD’s first acting nod. She’s deserved it for years now, but this past season gave us a whole new reason to root for her: Not only did she play the badass warrior we know as “Scare”-ol, but she hid her more primal instincts underneath a flowery sweater to play nice as Carol the Cookie Lady for the citizens of Alexandria.

In the video above, we put together McBride’s best moments from Season 5, both as cheery, casserole-baking Carol, and as terrifying, merciless assassin “Scare”-ol. Emmy voters, you’ve been warned: If you pass over McBride again this year, we can’t promise she won’t tie you to a tree and let the monsters get you.

The Walking Dead returns for Season 6 this fall on AMC.
