A 'Golden Girls' Lego Set? Yes, We Need This
UPDATE: The Golden Girls Lego set has now earned over 10,000 votes at the Lego Ideas site, and is awaiting approval from the toy company.
Looking for a new neighbor to live between The Simpsons house and the Breaking Bad meth lab in your Lego ‘hood? All it takes is a vote at the Lego Idea site, and Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia, The Golden Girls, could be movin’ in.
Lego and GG devotee “Lostsleep” has created an incredibly detailed Lego redo of the Girls and their sweet Miami bachelorette bad, and if the set snags 10,000 votes at the Lego Ideas page, it could become an official set produced by the company.
Lostsleep has Lego-ed the Girls living room and kitchen, right down to cabinets that open and a cheesecake on the table in the kitchen, and in the living room, wicker furniture and doors that open into an outdoor area with plants and a watering hose. Figurines include all four ladies, plus, adorably, Dorothy’s ex, Stan Zbornak.
Lostsleep — that username really says it all about the time it must have taken to create these TV treasures — has even paid homage to some classic Golden Girls moments with Lego versions of Burt Reynolds’s guest gig on the show, and the one where Rose has to tussle with a Sunshine Girl for the return of her beloved teddy bear, Fernando. (Rose won.)
The Golden Girls project, one of several proposed TV-related sets at the site, including a Seinfeld set, a Flintstones set, a Friends set, and even a Shark Tank set, currently has 3,300 supporters, but there are 343 days left to make the project a reality, which means, why are you still here? Vote, people, vote!
PS – Hey, Lostsleep… you think you could take a stab at recreating another TV “GG” in Lego… Gilmore Girls? Specifically, Luke’s Diner, the town square with the gazebo, and the Stars Hollow church? That Luke and Lorelai wedding we all want didn’t happen in TV land, but it could still happen in Legoland.
