Taylor Swift paid a surprise visit to Michelle Chamuel's "The Voice" rehearsal last week to go over the contestant's "I Knew You Were Trouble" performance - thrilling both Michelle and fans.
Though the Tay drop-in appeared to be pre-arranged, Usher (Michelle's coach) says it was an "incredible," spur-of-the-moment thing.
"[Taylor] was next door rehearsing in the same space that we were and we're kind of friends, and I went over just to check on her and see how she was doing," Usher told AccessHollywood.com's Laura Saltman following Tuesday's "The Voice" results show in Los Angeles. "And it just so happened that Michelle selected her record. We had no idea that she was gonna be there."
Usher asked Taylor if she'd mind popping into his rehearsal with Michelle and she obliged.
"It was just sort of like an ordained occurrence -- it was fate," he said.
The "Scream" singer said he was immensely proud of Michelle's performance of the song on Monday night, and viewers obviously agreed (as evidenced by iTunes downloads).
"She killed that song. It was so cool how she kind of twisted it around," Usher said of Michelle's version of "... Trouble" on Monday's show. "She was top 10 [on iTunes], top 4 in the country. Out of all the records in the records in the country she got top 4! I can only imagine what incredible things she's gonna do -- or I'm gonna be able to do with her -- once we start her career outside of 'The Voice,' whether we win or not."
In addition to her talent, Usher said Michelle (his last remaining contestant on the NBC reality hit) is a pleasure to work with.
"She's real humble -- all of the things that you would love to have in an artist," he said.
"The Voice" continues with the semi-finals on Monday at 8/7c on NBC.
