Viola Davis Shows Jimmy Kimmel Her 'Suicide Squad' Battle Scars

Viola Davis gave Jimmy Kimmel a crash course in comic book history when she stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night. The How to Get Away With Murder star is currently in Toronto filming her role in the upcoming DC Comics-derived blockbuster, Suicide Squad, in which she plays Amanda Waller, the leader of a team of mercenaries made up of the deadliest villains the DC-verse has to offer… including Batman’s nemesis, the Joker (played by Jared Leto). A self-confessed “Marvel comics guy,” Kimmel needed more intel on Suicide Squad and Waller in particular, so Davis gave him the scoop: “[Amanda] is a badass,” she said, adding “Superman would quake in his tights.”

Playing a badass meant that Davis picked up a few “battle wounds” during the shoot. Holding up her pinkie finger to the camera, she pointed to a scar where once a “huge flap of skin was hanging off.” Like a good soldier, she refused to reveal the circumstances that led to that scar, though. Based on her attitude, we’re betting it was earned by punching Superman in the face.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
