Donald Trump is catching a lot of heat for something he said — so what else is new, right?
Not much, and neither is the comment in question. The GOP frontrunner is getting beaten up in the media for something he said to Howard Stern in 1997, when Trump compared the risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease to Vietnam.
“I’ve been so lucky in terms of that whole world. It is a dangerous world out there — it’s scary, like Vietnam,” he told Stern 19 years ago. “Sort of like the Vietnam era.”

Stern then called these trysts Trump’s “own, personal Vietnam.”
“It is my personal Vietnam,” the businessman-turned-politician agreed. “I feel like a great and very brave solider.”
Trump later admitted that unprotected sex was better than Vietnam.

The women of “The View” didn’t find the joking around all that humorous.
“It’s a gross, disgusting comment.” co-host Candace Cameron Bure said. “It’s dishonorable to our veterans.”
Joy Behar added that it’s “unbelievable” that veterans back somebody who would say that.

Raven-Symoné acknowledged that Trump was just making a joke, but moderator Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t having any of that.
“Stuff comes out of this person’s mouth that we have eviscerated other people for,” she said. “We’ve taken people out of office for stuff like this.”
