Vice President Joe Biden To Guest Star On ‘Law & Order: SVU’

UPDATED: Vice President Joe Biden will guest star in the second episode of the upcoming 18th season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, playing himself.

Biden will appear as himself in the September 28 episode in a press conference scene where he commends the SVU, led by Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), for their work in addressing the national rape kit backlog, specifically in the city of Detroit.

Biden and Hargitay have worked together previously to bring attention to the national backlog of untested rape kits and violence against women. They both spoke last month at the United State of Women Summit. Hargitay also narrated the biographical video introducing Biden at the Democratic National Convention earlier this week.

Writer/exec producer Julie Martin and cast member Ice-T earlier tweeted a couple of photos.

This isn’t Biden’s first appearance in a TV show. He appeared with Amy Poehler in several episodes of Parks & Recreation last year.

Law & Order: SVU Season 18 premieres September 21 on NBC.

Biden’s casting was first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
