Vice President Joe Biden Denies Rumors He’s Running in 2020, Leaves Door Open

On Tuesday’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Stephen pressed Vice President Joe Biden to answer rumors that he plans on running for president in 2020. Earlier this week, Biden joked to a reporter that he was going to run and the news media instantly began speculating.

Biden denied the “announcement” but did leave the door open to changing his mind. He said, “I’m a great respecter of fate. I don’t plan on running again. But to say you know what’s going to happen in four years, I just think is not rational.” He added, “I’ve learned a long, long time ago, Stephen, to never say never. You don’t know what’s going to happen. Hell, Donald Trump is going to be 74. I’ll be 77 in better shape.”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
