'Veep' No More: Watch New POTUS Selina Meyer Get Her Oval Office Action On

If the prospect of “President Frank Underwood” isn’t enough to strike fear into your heart, how about “President Selina Meyer”? That’s where HBO’s scabrous political satire Veep left off at the end of Season 3, when the hapless VP inherited the Oval Office after her boss’s resignation. The just-released trailer for Season 4, which kicks off on April 12, reminds everyone of the new status quo when the POTUS (played, as always, by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) tells a group of Easter basket-carrying kids, “I’m the President.” Way to give them all nightmares, Selina.

Even scarier than Meyer’s new power, though, is the elevated status enjoyed by the many, many idiots she employs, from her communication-challenged Director of Communications, Mike McLintock, to overbearing, overprotective personal aide, Gary Walsh. All those characters are glimpsed in the teaser along with new cast member, Hugh Laurie, whose exact role remains undisclosed. It’s hard to think of more appropriate casting than pitting the pill-popping Dr. House against the trash-talking President Meyer.

Veep premieres April 12 at 10:30 p.m. on HBO.
