We Quiz the 'Veep' Cast: Who Said This Profanity-Laced Insult?

If you’re a fan of HBO’s political comedy Veep — and if you’re not, you really need to get on that — you know that now-President Selina Meyer and her D.C. entourage enjoy nothing more than insulting each other in the most profane way possible. (It’s a good thing this show airs on pay cable; the bleep budget alone would be out of control.)

In the video above, we challenge the stars of Veep — Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Matt Walsh, Anna Chlumsky, Gary Cole, and Timothy Simons — to match an insult from the show with the character who said it. And the early returns? Decidedly mixed, to put it charitably.

Cole doesn’t get a single question right — but he has a good excuse, since he only joined the cast in Season 2. And Simons can’t even remember the insults his own character, the insufferably smug Jonah, has dished out: “I remember the context of every other quote… but I don’t remember the context of my own!”

But Louis-Dreyfus’s performance is the most disappointing of all; being the Emmy-winning star of the show, we were shocked to see her stumble on a few of these. And so was she: “You know, I produce this show… it’s interesting how familiar I am with it.” Can someone get her an HBO Now subscription, stat?

Veep Season 4 premieres Sunday, April 12 at 10:30 p.m. on HBO.
