The set of "The Vampire Diaries" might be a little awkward now that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have reportedly split.

According to People and Us Weekly, the co-stars have called it quits after dating for more than three years.

Despite the relationship woes, a source told the mag that the actors are "consummate professionals" and "will continue to work together and remain best friends, which is where the relationship started."

Last year, the 24-year-old actress told Seventeen magazine, "I didn't want to be dating one of my co-stars -- my goal on the show was to be professional. But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long - which I did for a really, really long time."

The couple took their relationship public in 2011. Reps for both actors declined to comment on the split when contacted by the mag.
