The great thing about British series is that they don't carry on past their expiration date. Unfortunately, Downton Abbey is so popular overseas that it will most likely continue. Executive producer Gareth Neame told the Association Foreign Press that Downton would not end after season five, despite Julian Fellowes' recent interview with the Wall Street Journal. "I can confirm there are no plans to end the show after the fifth series," Neame said, adding that ITV orders a new season on a "year-by-year basis."
