‘A Used Condom in a Gideon Bible’: Samantha Bee and Al Franken Trade Ted Cruz Burns
Sen. Al Franken visited Full Frontal to trade digs with Samantha Bee about Sen. Ted Cruz. In his book, Al Franken, Giant of the Senate, Franken devoted an entire chapter to his dislike of Cruz. So, he and the host traded the favorite insults they’ve hurled at Cruz. Bee called him “a used condom in a Gideon Bible.”
In his book, Franken says he once called Cruz “the Dwight Schrute of the Senate.”
Franken reminded Bee that she described Cruz as “a terrifying fundamentalist swamp-Reagan.”
However, Franken has tempered his rhetoric. He told USA Today, “I probably like Ted Cruz more than most other of my colleagues like Ted Cruz, but I hate Ted Cruz.
Making jokes at the expense of Cruz seems to be a pastime of the Senate, as Sen. Lindsey Graham joked last year, “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you.”
