Just because you’re appearing in the reboot of Twin Peaks doesn’t mean you get to know what the reboot of Twin Peaks is actually about. Just ask Naomi Watts, who appears in Showtime’s 18-episode revival of the David Lynch cult TV classic. The actress, whose character name and description have yet to be revealed, told Yahoo TV about the first time she saw her portions of the Twin Peaks script. “I went up to [David’s] house and read on-site; I can’t even tell you the number of pages,” she recalls. “Everything I wasn’t saying was blacked out. That continued to the day we arrived on set. If you arrive to a scene that was happening two pages before you, you don’t get those pages.”

Even with all the secrecy, Watts says that the notoriously quirky director provides actors with plenty of support on set. “David just directs you for that moment. He gives you all the clues you need in that moment,” she explains. “You certainly do have questions and you walk away with those questions, but I don’t mind it.”

Twin Peaks premieres May 21 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
