TVLine Items: Sleepy Vet Among Gods, Vance Joins TNT's Civil and More

American Gods has found its Mr. Nancy.

Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) has been tapped to play Mr. NancyAKA the god Anansi on Starz’s American Gods, the network announced Wednesday. Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel and set to premiere in 2017, the Bryan Fuller-produced series follows Shadow Moon (The 100‘s Ricky Whittle) after he begins a job traveling as a bodyguard for the ambiguous Mr. Wednesday (Deadwood‘s Ian McShane).

Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) has also joined the American Gods cast as Mr. Ibis.

* Country music star Dwight Yoakam has been cast in David E. Kelley’s upcoming Amazon series Goliath as Wendell Corey, the head of an aerospace company defended by lawyer Billy McBride (played by Billy Bob Thornton).

* Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O.J. Simpson), Toby Jones (Wayward Pines) and Bradley Whitford (Transparent) have all joined the cast of Civil, TNT’s modern-day Civil War pilot.
