MacGyver” was no flash in the pan for CBS. The reboot of the 1980s actioner held up well in its second week, propelling CBS to win every half-hour of Friday in viewers and adults 18-49.

“MacGyver” lassoed 9.1 million viewers and 1.4 rating/6 share in adults 18-49 in the lead-off 8 p.m. slot, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-same-day preliminary ratings. That marks a strong retention rate from last week’s premiere (1.7/8, 10.9 million viewers).

The crowd that gathered for “MacGyver’s” gave a boost to 9 p.m.’s “Hawaii Five-0” (1.3/5, 9.6 million) and 10 p.m.’s “Blue Bloods” (1.3/5, 10.4 million), which were also close to last week’s premiere ratings.

Fox saw its 9 p.m. freshman “The Exorcist” (0.7/3, 2.1 million) dip from last week’s premiere ratings that were already underwhelming (1.0/4, 2.9 million). Given the generally low traffic on Fridays, Fox is undoubtedly counting on delayed viewing to salvage “Exorcist.” At 8 p.m., Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” (1.0/4, 3.2 million) was also off slightly from last week.

ABC’s lineup was flat week-to-week with the exception of “20/20” (0.9/4, 3.9 million) managing an uptick in the 10 p.m. hour. Comedies “Last Man Standing” (1.o/5, 5.8 million) and “Dr. Ken” (0.8/3, 3.9 million) lead off at 8 p.m. followed by “Shark Tank” (1.1/4, 4.5 million).

NBC was mostly out of the game on Friday with a repeat of “This Is Us” (0.6/3, 2.7 million) followed by “Dateline” (1.0/4, 4.7 million).

For the night, CBS stomped the competition with an average of 1.3/5 in adults 18-49 and 9.7 million viewers.
