TV News Roundup: Malcolm-Jamal Warner to Guest on ‘Lethal Weapon’

“The Cosby Show” star Malcolm-Jamal Warner is coming to “Lethal Weapon,” an L.A. Rams docuseries gets a premiere date, and more in today’s TV news roundup. 

CASTING:

Malcolm-Jamal Warner will guest star on Fox’s “Lethal Weapon,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The “People v. O.J. Simpson” and “Cosby Show” alum will play David Reed, the stern captain of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department who is willing to look the other way to protect his men—and his career.

Aside from his stint on FX’s Emmy-winner, Warner has also recently recurred on “Major Crimes” and “Suits.” Fox just picked up “Lethal Weapon” for a full season earlier Wednesday.

DATES:

E! has set Wednesday, Nov. 30 (9/8c) as the kickoff date for its Los Angeles Rams docuseries “Hollywood & Football.”

The series follows six Rams and their families after the franchise’s move from St. Louis. The players featured are Kenny Britt, Rodger Saffold, Lance Kendricks, Chase Reynolds, Bradley Marquez and Cory Harkey.

GREENLIGHTS:

The team behind Esquire Network’s “Car Matchmaker” is bringing car-obsessed viewers six episodes of a new series called “Joyride.”

Rapper T-Pain, professional race car driver Brian Vickers, “The O.C.” actress Mischa Barton and actor Oliver Trevena will serve as hosts for the half-hour series, test-driving cars both new and vintage.

“Joyride” will premiere Nov. 15 at 10/9c on Esquire.

DEALS:

Streaming service Acorn TV, which concentrates on British and Australian series, has acquired the rights to ITV Studios’ “Loch Ness,” a six-part murder mystery thriller set along the shores of the iconic Scottish lake.

The series is written by Stephen Brady and stars “Breaking Bad” actress Laura Fraser and Siobhan Finneran of “Downton Abbey.”

“Loch Ness” will premiere on Acorn TV in Spring 2017.

EXECUTIVES:

Former BBC Worldwide SVP Melissa Madden has been named head of marketing, U.K. & international at A+E Networks. In her new role, she’ll help spread the word abroad about series like Lifetime’s “UnREAL.”
