Trump Plays Golf With Peyton Manning, Twitter Loses Its Mind

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning committed a heinous act on Sunday, according to social media — he went golfing with President Donald Trump.

The retired NFL star was snapped with the POTUS, and what started out as an innocent round of golf exploded into a Twitter firestorm.

Manning and Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) were guests of the president’s at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, before visiting the White House later in the day, ESPN reported.

“And now I dislike Peyton Manning. I’m a long-time @Colts fan but this is unacceptable. Goddamn shame. And shame on you Peyton,” one anti-Trump Twitter user wrote.

“Peyton Manning not bothered by bigotry, xenophobia, sexual assaults, fraud. A real role model,” said another.

However, there were plenty of Republicans chiming in to defend Manning and say they didn’t know what all the fuss was about.

“Peyton Manning is golfing with #POTUS Trump and Liberals throw a hissy fit. Obama shakes hands with Raul Castro….crickets. Hypocrites,” one right-leaning user wrote.

Manning is set to host the ESPYs next month, so he’ll no doubt have some jokes about all the fuss in his opening monologue.

The Daily Beast reported in January that the Super Bowl 50 champion spoke shortly after Trump and Vice President Mike Pence at a Republican retreat in Philadelphia.

The report stated that Manning was previously a donor for George W. Bush’s 2004 reelection campaign, Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential bid and Jeb Bush’s short-lived campaign in 2015.
