Trevor Noah Mocks Megyn Kelly Over Donald Trump Interview; Kelly Fires Back

After her long-awaited yet mostly congenial interview with Donald Trump, Megyn Kelly found herself the target of ridicule from Trevor Noah on The Daily Show. “Last night’s interview didn’t seem to be about journalism, or the Republican Party, or even the election,” Noah said. “It seemed like it was about two brands, Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly, and whether they could forge a mutually beneficial partnership. Just like how Chipotle teams up with bacteria to help you lose weight.”

Noah, who is no stranger himself to criticism from other media outlets, mocked her line of questioning. For example, during the interview, Kelly said, “I want to talk for a minute about the tweeting. Set the scene for me: Do you pick up your iPhone and actually tweet yourself?” “What?” Noah asked after showing the clip. “What is this? What the hell was it, like this was sold as a bloodbath but in the end it turned out to be one of those couples’ baths that only exists in the Cialis commercials.”

The part of the interview that bothered Noah the most was that after weeks of Kelly holding Trump accountable for the reprehensible things the presumptive Republican nominee has said about women, she folded quickly when he was in the room with her. Kelly pointed out Trump had called her a bimbo “many times.” Trump replied, “Oh, OK. Excuse me.” The two then shared a laugh.

“I can’t believe this, but Megyn Kelly just got negged by Donald Trump,” Noah said. “He repeatedly insulted her and then all of a sudden switched it up with a little charm and she’s all smiles.” Kelly didn’t like Noah’s commentary, tweeting, “So grateful I have men like @Trevornoah 2 advise on how to deal w/gender attacks- I’m sure his life experience far better than mine on this!”

As for Noah, he didn’t tweet back. He simply ended his segment by saying, “I know that Trump may be a torture-supporting, Muslim-disparaging horseman of the apocalypse, but don’t forget, when he is president and it’s all going to s***, we all get to look at that smile.”
