'Treetop Cat Rescue': Your New Favorite Reality Show

Yes, Treetop Cat Rescue is a show that exists.

Premiering May 30 on Animal Planet, the series follows brother-in-laws Shaun Sears and Tom Otto, who run the non-profit organization Canopy Cat Rescue in western Washington. The certified arborists save cats that get stuck in giant trees that are more than 100-feet tall — in rain, at night, whenever they get a call. Over the past two years, they have reunited nearly 500 cats with their owners.

As the sneak peek above reveals, getting to a cat is only half the battle. They then have to coax it to them while reading the animal’s meows, which can be threatening (like Thor’s and Earl’s) or gently pleading (such as Willie’s and Beast’s). They must also hope the cat doesn’t slip and fall, or jump.

While we’re genuinely excited for Treetop Cat Rescue, there have been other shows announced this week that have made us do a double take. Two of the three shows below are real. Can you guess the fake?

Spike TV’s Convenience Store Confessions: A charismatic clerk coaxes tales of hookups and heartbreak out of the late-night customers.

CMT’s Pontoon Payday: A floating game show in which lake-goers earn cash if they answer questions correctly and a frat-style punishment if they don’t.

TLC’s Labor Games: A game show in which parents-to-be compete for prizes… while in labor.
