‘Time After Time’: Cast, EPs Think H.G. Wells Wouldn’t Be Down With Pokémon Go

There’s a lot about 21st century life that 19th century time travelers would find perplexing. Uber, for example. Also, Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift. But the modern day marvel that would leave them most mystified has to be Pokemon Go, the mobile app that’s either making us more fit or totally invading our privacy.

If Pokemon Go really is the apex of our contemporary civilization, then you can probably count H.G. Wells out. At least, that’s what Freddie Stroma — who plays the legendary author of The Time Machine in the new ABC drama, Time After Time, an adaptation of the 1979 film that brought Wells into the present day via time travel — decided after chatting with Yahoo TV in our Comic-Con studio.

“If people are having fun, then sure why not,” Stroma says of Pokemon Go, before adding, “Some of the stories I’ve heard now — there are people off cliffs, people who’ve been hit by cars. Maybe he’s not into this Pokemon thing.”

Time After Time premieres midseason on ABC.
