'The X-Files' First Look: Scully Meets Robbie Amell's Miller

Last week’s episode of The X-Files left Dana Scully nursing a broken heart after her beloved mother passed away, after referencing the stoic agent’s son, William, with her final breath. The memory of that moment looms large in the next installment of this revival season, “Babylon,” written by series creator, Chris Carter. Airing on Feb. 15, Scully and Mulder’s latest case partners them with another pair of FBI agents, Miller (Robbie Amell, younger cousin of Arrow’s Stephen Amell) and Einstein (Lauren Ambrose), as they investigate a deadly terrorist bombing in Texas.

One of the attackers has survived, but remains in a coma. Still, Miller thinks there’s a way to extract information about his accomplices, possibly via mystical means, and he turns to the X-Files duo for help over the objections of his skeptical partner. (Sound familiar?) In this exclusive clip, Scully talks to Miller about his plan, suggesting that there’s a scientific solution that wouldn’t necessitate the use of an oracle or a psychic. “This is a bit of a personal quest for me,” she says, citing her regret that she wasn’t able to communicate with her coma-ridden mother prior to her passing. “I wish I’d had the presence of mind to think of this when she was still alive.” With only one episode remaining before this great season of The X-Files draws to a close, we’re already mourning the future lack of Mulder and Scully in our lives.

The X-Files airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox
