‘The Simpsons’ Tackles Patriots Cheating Allegations, Sacks Gronkowski

The Simpsons took on the New England Patriots Sunday night. The popular sports franchise always seems to be embroiled in some scandal, whether it’s air pressure in footballs or videotapes of other teams playing. In the world of The Simpsons, meanwhile, the team is referred to as the Boston Americans. When they played Homer’s beloved Springfield Atoms and used a mascot to score the game-winning touchdown, Homer accused the team of cheating.

Homer was so upset with Boston that he took his family there for a “hate-cation.” After seeing all the wonderful things the city had to offer, the family surprisingly fell in love with Boston and moved there. However, during a parade to celebrate the Boston Americans breaking another rule and getting away with it, Homer snapped after a football player named Bonk, wearing the number 78 (not to be confused with Gronkowski, who wears 87), asked Homer to wear a team hat.

Homer calls out the Boston team, saying, “Stupid cheaters! You cheat, you flip out when people say you cheat, and everybody knows you’re nothing but a big bunch of cheaters!”

While The Simpsons probably didn’t make any friends in Foxborough, or the surrounding area, there were fans from the other 31 teams in the league that probably thought the episode was pretty funny.

The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Fox. Watch clips and full episodes of The Simpsons free on Yahoo View.
