The Happiest Moments From the 'Outlander' Season 1 Finale

Claire and Jamie Fraser have seen their share of ups­ and­ downs during this first season of Outlander, but Saturday night’s finale really put their love to the test.

After being saved from Wentworth Prison, Jamie falls into a suicidal depression, even going so far as to ask Willy to kill him. As Claire tries to mend his wounds, Jamie finally opens up and we see a series of flashbacks that reveal he was tortured and raped by the sadistic and cruel Capt. Jack Randall.

Black Jack further lives up to his name by branding the initials “JR” on Jamie with a hot iron. Jamie is so traumatized, he tells Claire he wants to die. These unexpected and dark turns made for a bleak episode — but there were moments of hope.
