'The Goldbergs' First Look: Beverly Takes One for the Team
We know The Goldbergs is set in 1980-something, but the Eagles really could have used the matriarch of the ABC sitcom during the 2015-16 football season. That’s because Beverly Goldberg (Wendi McLendon-Covey) seems to be a good luck charm for Philadelphia’s NFL football team.
In this exclusive sneak peek clip from The Goldbergs episode “Double Dare,” Mama Goldberg is finally allowed into the family’s living room during the Eagles’ big game against the Steelers — and not just to wipe up Murray’s (Jeff Garlin) spilled beer, either. When Barry (Troy Gentile) picks up on the fact that the Birds do well every time Bev is in the room, he calls her in to prove his point. One Bradshaw sack later and Barry’s convinced, but his skeptical dad thinks the team’s good fortune comes from his own lucky Eagles jersey and underpants.
We’re not sure if it’s Beverly’s aura or Murray’s drawers, but just to be safe, can we get this family box seats to next season’s Eagles opener?
The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
