‘The Flash’ Integrates Antidrug PSA Into Episode

The Flash tackled an important subject in today’s world: performance enhancing drugs. On last night’s episode, a new villain named Trajectory emerged, who used a drug called Velocity 9 (V9) to gain super speed. Unfortunately the drug has some rather terrible side effects, like cellular deterioration and dementia.

V9 caused Caitlin’s friend Eliza to change from a nice research scientist into a thieving speedster who enjoyed wreaking havoc on Central City. The results were undoubtedly impressive, though, as Eliza was significantly faster than Barry. In fact, Barry was so envious of Eliza’s artificial speed that he considered taking the drug himself. Fortunately Dr. Wells reminded him to be down with dope and up with hope.

In the end, Barry tried to save Eliza from her drug addiction, but she refused to listen. And much like her character’s name foreshadowed, Eliza’s trajectory led straight into an early grave.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
