Election stress getting you down? Then turn your attention to happier times — namely, Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, when ABC will gift us with a new season of The Bachelor to love/hate-watch. Whether you love or hate (or have no opinion about) new Bachelor Nick Viall (for more on his bumpy history with the Bachelor franchise, click here) the new season will no doubt feature plenty of entertaining absurdity.

Those of us hungry for details about the new season haven’t had much to go on, other than this quick promo…

But fortunately, Bachelor Nation overlord Mike Fleiss has been teasing fans with some behind-the-scenes shots of production, which began in September. And if Fleiss’s tweets have taught us anything, it’s that we’re in for a season of delightfully ill-advised fashion choices, courtesy of our Bachelor. Let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

In a tweet dated Sept. 26, Fleiss shared this photo of Nick with a “lady” in a bridal veil, with the caption, “Is it love?!?” I don’t know about that, Mike, but I do know somebody should have told the Bachelor that his pants were about 4 inches too short.

Moving on to this glamour shot from October 9:

Hmmm … where could he be? Well, Nick is from Waukesha, Wisconsin, so maybe on his way there he stopped off in Bloomington, Minn., to pick up some jeans at True Religion in the Mall of America? After all, nothing says “down-to-earth” and “masculine” like $300 artificially distressed denim.

Up next, whatever the hell this is:

First of all, it was really nice of The Sopranos to let Team Bachelor use Silvio Dante‘s tailor this season. If this reality TV star thing doesn’t work out, Nick might have a future in waste management. And once again, the Bachelor has chosen to go with a tragically short pant. Why, Nick? Your socks aren’t even interesting! But short seems to be a theme with our suitor. Check out these swim trunks in the pic Fleiss tweeted on Oct. 19:

Of course, anyone who watched Bachelor in Paradise knows Nick is quite fond of unnaturally snug swimwear…

…but I guess I hoped someone on Team Bachelor would have put an end to Nick’s penchant for butt-huggers before production began. Nope. Please see our last exhibit, dated Oct. 27:

Bottoms up, rose lovers! See you next year.

The Bachelor premieres Monday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
