Thanksgiving Travel: Waze Predicts Best (and Worst) Times to Drive in Los Angeles This Week

The Hollywood Reporter

Planning to join the holiday hordes on the roads this Thanksgiving? Well, navigation app Waze has some suggestions on how to avoid the inevitable onslaught of Los Angeles traffic this week.

In anticipation of one of the busiest holiday travel seasons since 2007, Waze has constructed a day-to-day traffic guide to help users decipher the best (and worst) times of the day to hit the road this week, based on data gathered by app usage last year.

According to AAA, nearly 49 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more between Wednesday and Sunday. On Tuesday night, Thanksgiving traffic congestion was in full force in L.A., as evidenced by an aerial-view video captured by ABC7 of cars on the 405 Freeway at a complete standstill.

To make the most of your travel plans this holiday, Waze advises against driving to or from home Wednesday (from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and all-day Sunday (when traffic jams are most likely to occur). The app forecasts open roads on Thanksgiving Day, Friday and Saturday.
