(Spoiler alert: Don’t read on if you don’t want to know about the upcoming episode of “Roanoke”)
“Finn Wittrock is coming back soon, playing his most f–ked-up character of all time. To the point where he was like, ‘This is so crazy that I don’t know that I can do it, but I’ll do it,” Murphy added.
In an interview with Wittrock in May, the actor told TheWrap that he “heard it is going to be a little tighter — there were so many story lines in the last one and it was so big and epic, I have a feeling it might be a little more claustrophobic. A smaller cast.”
Murphy added about Peters, who just made his highly-anticipated debut on “Roanoke” last week, that “episode six is one of the greatest, most hilarious things Evan has ever done.”
Murphy also discussed the upcoming curveball, calling it “bigger” than previous “AHS” twists and revealing that the show will take a a completely different turn after Wednesday’s episode, with Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Peters playing different roles halfway through the season.
“What happened with this season, which is really broken into two halves, one through five, which everybody has hopefully seen, and then six through 10 … It’s a completely different narrative form. Things that you thought to be true about people are revealed to not be true. And it was exciting to work on, because it was like working on two shows at once. The big twist of episode six takes you into a complete other world.”
He added that Paulson and Bates thought “they were playing one thing through the whole year, and right around the time we started shooting episode four, I called them up and I said, ‘OK, I didn’t want to tell you this, but it will be revealed that you’re actually something completely different than what the audience thought you were.’ And they all loved that challenge.”
Murphy added that the upcoming “American Horror Story” seasons will not be secretive, as season six had been in the months leading up to the premiere. The show was renewed for a seventh season earlier this month.
