Suspects Arrested in ‘Deadliest Catch’ Star’s Beating And Robbery

Two suspects have been arrested in the robbery and beating of Jake Harris, a former star of Discovery’s Emmy-winning reality series Deadliest Catch. Police were reportedly told that he was riding back from a casino in Washington state, when one of three others in the car attacked him. Personal items were stolen from Harris before he was left on the side of the road.

Brother and former crewmate Josh Harris posted a video on Facebook describing his brother’s “cracked skull” and brain trauma, stating, “He’s pretty messed up, and hopefully, one day, we’ll get him back fishing again.”

Josh and Jake began as deckhands for their father, Capt. Phil Harris, on the Cornelia Marie, fishing for crab in the Bering Sea. In 2010, Phil suffered a stroke aboard the docked boat in Alaska, and the show captured his final days in the hospital, where he passed away. Jake, who began his struggle with opiate addiction in high school, was planning to seek treatment at the time, but after his father’s death, started to once again abuse drugs.

Jake hasn’t regularly appeared on Deadliest Catch since 2012, but brother Josh now operates the Cornelia Marie on and off the show. Jake is currently listed in “satisfactory condition.”
