Hank vs. Non: What You Didn't See When They Went Head-to-Head on 'Supergirl'

It can be heartbreaking for TV shows when some of their best material ends up on the cutting room floor because there’s just not enough time. Scenes that slow the pace or reveal character get sacrificed in favor of ones that move the plot along. When Season 1 of Supergirl hits shelves next week, there will be plenty of those scenes that add texture to the events and people of National City.

In this clip from episode 9, “Blood Bonds” (the episode after the winter hiatus), we get a bit more of the interrogation of Hank by Non. The Kryptonian still believes him to be the fanatically anti-alien operative who hunted down J’onn J’onzz, so he doesn’t realize just how true his words are when he says a person can’t change unless forced. The actors who play Hank and Non — David Harewood and Chris Vance — are marvelous together, so it’s nice to see them get to play the quiet menace of this scene before the more openly violent interrogation that actually aired later in the episode.

Supergirl Season 2 premieres Oct. 10 on The CW; Supergirl: The Complete First Season is available on Digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
