'Supergirl': 9 Super-Fun Questions For Melissa Benoist

Tonight’s episode of Supergirl, which features guest star Grant Gustin as The Flash, promises to reveal a few new things about Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) universe. “Just the way that The Flash gets to Supergirl’s Earth, and the fact that there’s more than one version of Earth — there’s a science to [traveling] that he really explains,” Benoist says.

Just as Superman enjoyed racing The Flash in the comics, Supergirl takes her turn opposite the visitor (who’ll help Kara battle Siobhan, aka Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for aid in getting him home). "We did not race in real life. I would have lost in about 10 seconds. I’m not fast and I never have been,” Benoist says with a laugh. “But filming the race was really cool. It was in this amazing, vast, sweeping landscape outside of LA, and it was beautiful out, and we were both in our suits, and my cape was billowing and making this awesome noise in the wind. We did have a moment where he looked at me and I looked at him, and we were like, ‘This is really cool. What are we doing? This is awesome.’”

Since that’s all Benoist could tease about the episode when she stopped by Yahoo TV recently, we took the opportunity to get to know her better by asking nine important questions, ranging from when she feels the most competitive (playing Super Mario Bros.) to the last time she was starstruck (cue her excellent Pee-wee Herman impression). Along the way, we also found out what they really do to pass time on the Supergirl set (sing ‘90s rap songs and pay tribute to Harry Belafonte) and that we’re not the only ones hoping for a musical episode.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
