LONDON - Stephen Ladlow is the new director of Challenge and Pick TV, BSkyB’s free-to-air entertainment channels.
Available across all digital homes in the U.K., Challenge is dedicated to game shows. Pick TV showcases select content from BSkyB’s entertainment content once it aired on pay TV.
Ladlow joined Sky in 2002 and has held several positions at Sky Media, the firm’s ad sales arm since then. Most recently, he was sponsorship controller.
In the new role, Ladlow joins director of programs Stuart Murphy’s team of channel directors, which includes Antonia Hurford-Jones, acting director of the Sky Living network, Sky Atlantic boss Elaine Pyke and James Hunt, director of Sky Arts.
"Ladlow’s role will see him continue to build the content and commercial strategies for the channels, as well as using his experience in sponsorship and brand engagement to help advertisers innovate in the way they use TV to reach audiences," the company said.
U.K. pay TV giant BSkyB, in which Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. has a 39 percent stake, has been increasing its spending on its networks and their programming.
“As our only free-to-air entertainment channels, Pick and Challenge play an important role within our broad portfolio of channels," Murphy said. "Stephen’s love of TV coupled with his experience and expertise of working with brands in innovative ways is just the combination we’ve been looking for.”
Said Ladlow: "I’m excited about the opportunity to bring in new partnerships and to evolve what we offer both viewers and advertiser alike."
