Stephen Colbert Inserted Himself Into Donald Trump’s Interview on ‘60 Minutes’

On Monday’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert took Donald Trump’s postelection interview with 60 Minutes and inserted himself in place of interviewer Lesley Stahl. Of course Colbert’s line of questioning was quite a bit different from Stahl’s, but considering how opposed he was to Trump leading up to the election, Colbert handled himself like a pro throughout this fake interview. Colbert has done this before and, naturally, rearranged Trump’s answers to make for maximum humor.

They “covered” everything from longtime Russian President Vladimir Putin to who Trump might hire for Cabinet positions. Colbert asked about the gift Trump had received from Putin, something that sounds very much like a Trojan horse, which is now used metaphorically as a form of tricking the enemy.

When it came to Trump’s administration, Colbert asked who he plans to hire. The answer came from a portion of the real interview in which Trump was talking about the undocumented immigrants he plans to deport.

“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers; we have a lot of those people,” Trump answered.

When Colbert asked how many years Trump sees himself in office, he answered, “Fifteen, max.” Good thing it was all just a video edited for comedy, right?
