‘StartUp’ Sneak Peek: Martin Freeman and Adam Brody Play Cat-and-Mouse

Don’t let the friendly chatter in the Sept. 6 premiere of StartUp fool you. When Martin Freeman’s FBI agent Phil Rask makes small talk with Adam Brody’s financier Nick Talman about his girlfriend, it’s actually a very well-crafted, and aggressive, method of trying to disarm Talman… so Rask can go in for the kill.

And Rask’s tactics, as we see in the exclusive sneak peek above from Crackle’s upcoming scripted drama StartUp, are quite effective. His smooth, subtle build-up — before sliding right into an interrogation of Nick about where his fugitive father is — visibly rattles Nick.

The 10-epsiode series, which also stars The Blacklist’s Edi Gathegi and Graceland alum Otmara Marrero and counts Brody as a producer, follows Nick and his two unlikely associates (played by Gathegi and Marrero) as they try to launch a company featuring a new, government-free digital currency.

Their source of early financing is going to draw a lot of attention to their company, however, and Rask may turn out to be the least, or least dangerous, of their start-up problems.

StartUp premieres Sept. 6 on Crackle.
