Fall TV Shows in Trouble
“The Neighbors” (ABC)
This goofy aliens-in-suburbia sitcom got a boost by debuting after ABC's mega-hit “Modern Family” a couple weeks back. And though the raw numbers look healthy (9.2 million total viewers), it
only retained 60% of “Modern Family’s” audience -- and the fact that most critics hate it can’t help. Plus, that boost won't last: These "Neighbors” had to pack up and move to 8:30 PM.
Prognosis: Likely crashing back down to Earth. Without the "Modern Family" golden parachute to cushion its fall, "The Neighbors" should be posting a "For Sale" sign in its front yard by midseason.
