‘Spitting Image’ May Reboot on HBO For Trump Era

British series Spitting Image may be getting a reboot at HBO. The satire was a huge hit for U.K. channel ITV in the 1980s, taking on all things political and pop culture with weird and grotesque puppets, and bringing home a number of awards and nominations. HBO has made no official confirmation, but a source told the Sun that “preparation on the famous faces has already begun” for the closely guarded project.

The new Spitting Image will supposedly focus on American politics, especially President Donald Trump, who has already publicly expressed his views on marionette likenesses, arguing with Hillary Clinton that he was “no puppet” and that she was, in fact, the puppet. But the tides may turn on this fact with the Splitting Image reboot. And we wouldn’t be surprised if Clinton appears as one too.

This won’t be the first time a Spitting Image reboot has been in the works. Back in 2006, ITV planned on a new version, but then the network created a pair of puppets in the style of the originals against the creator’s wishes, and the whole reboot fell apart.
